• This time of year many school libraries are ordering new books. At the very least each library should subscribed to Wrestling USA Magazine. Some good wrestling novels for students include No Excuses, Pinned, A Season on the Mat and Call Me Coach. Check out our Coach's Store for a dozen great selections.

• Coaches, like their wrestlers, need to work in the offseason to improve their game or, in this case, their coaching skills. With that in mind you need to participate in USA Wrestling's National Coaches Education Program. Contact your state's USAW's Association to register. Go for the Copper, Bronze, Silver or Gold!

• Selecting and Training Team Captains - Here's a procedure for selecting team captains that uses an application and interviews as part of the process. Once selected, train them to be effective leaders! Here's how.
